*TWO JAILED 20 YEARS FOR ROBBERY AT NYANKUMASE AHENKURO* The Assin Kyekyewere Circuit Court, presided over by Her Ladyship Sophia Priscilla Yeboah, has sentenced two armed robbers, Prince Aidoo (24) and Festus Arthur (21), to 20 years imprisonment in hard labor for their involvement in a robbery incident at Nyankumase Ahenkuro in the Assin South District. The convicts, both unemployed and natives of Abura Kwaduagya in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese District, pleaded guilty to two counts of conspiracy to commit crime and robbery. Each of the convicts was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment. They were arrested by a team of police officers led by Detective Corporal Nii Armah Ashitey of the Nyankumase Ahenkuro Police Command. According to the Prosecutor, Inspector Iddrisu Salifu, the complainant, a 17-year-old final-year student of Nyankumase Ahenkuro Senior High School, was attacked by the convicts on August 19, 2024, while going home from school. The prosecutor explained that the convicts, including one other who is currently on the run, were standing on the path bridge behind the Church of Pentecost, Nyankumase Ahenkuro branch. The complainant greeted them, but they refused to respond and suddenly ordered him to stay put. The complainant became terrified and attempted to run to save his life, but convict Prince Aidoo kicked him, causing him to fall into the bush. Convict Festus Arthur then rushed him, pulled out a knife, held the complainant's neck together with his top dress, and threatened to kill him if he failed to hand over his smartphone. The convicts forcibly took the smartphone and bolted. A complaint was therefore lodged with the police, and the convicts were arrested at their hideouts. They admitted to the offense in their cautioned statement and were subsequently charged and put before the court for trial.
