Cats don’t need a lot of things but a place to scratch is one of them. If they’re going for the couch it’s because that’s the only option. They need cardboard or something to shed their nails

I will say it’s the type of fabric. I had a couch like this and my cats tore it up. I have a smoother material now and they don’t scratch it
