The fact is ChatGPT and OpenAI need to do a better job of letting people know that these AI hallucinate 90%+ of everything they produce.

AI has a LOT of potential, but in its current state, it has no place in serious academics. In decades? I’m sure it will be invaluable, but it’s nowhere near advanced enough now.

google and chat gpt benefit from lying to people, because giving false info that looks real makes them look more knowledgeable/ better than saying "i don't know"

Short one :
AI creates "pictures" it doesn't create actual inteligent content it monkeys actions. Good example is Ai art, it's based on visuals, but not on theory behind them

I work in software and with AI. It's alarming how often I have to tell people that chatGPT is not a magical truth box

There are actually many serious advocates of AI in academia who understand the potential and limitations of AI. My U recently hosted a local AI conference and the ideas exchange were fascinating

Autoregressive token prediction can be really useful and I've found GPT4 to be useful in doing research as something I can bounce ideas off of - but it just increases productivity, not capability.

Chstgpt is only good for general basic info more specialized info it’s better if you already have a basis in it but then that kinda defeats its purpose

I use chatgpt to reverse search books on very specific topics and it HAS to be double checked because it hallucinates a lot of information.

no body gets that chat gpt if a tool to help you do things, not something that does things for you. it wont find out stuff for you accuratly cuz that's not what it was designed for.
