Could be phytotoxicity, some products like quinclorac or 2-4D have some dinging on Bermuda or other “desired” turf but won’t kill it. Try some ammonium sulfate!

Reminds me when my dad tried to kill crabgrass AFTER it had already came up. He asked for something to kill the crabgrass but not his grass (lol) and ended up turning his lawn into a checkerboard.

Who would spray mystery chemicals? Seems obvious you’d flush it a few times on to gravel or an area you wanted to kill everything just to be safe.
