Bea Cukai Batam kembali menunjukkan komitmennya dalam memberantas peredaran barang kena cukai (BKC) ilegal. Melalui Operasi Cukai yang digelar pada 27–30 Juli 2026, petugas menyita 32.790 batang rokok ilegal dari sejumlah lokasi di Kota Batam. Operasi tersebut menyasar sejumlah tempat usaha pedagang eceran dan lokasi yang telah dipetakan sebelumnya berdasarkan hasil pengumpulan serta pengolahan informasi. Kegiatan itu merupakan bagian dari upaya mempersempit ruang gerak peredaran rokok tanpa pita cukai di Batam. Dari serangkaian pemeriksaan di lapangan, petugas menemukan puluhan ribu batang rokok ilegal dari berbagai merek, antara lain Manchester, R7Bold, H&D, PSG, H-Mild, T3, OFO, serta beberapa merek lainnya. Seluruh barang bukti kini diamankan untuk menjalani proses lebih lanjut sesuai ketentuan yang berlaku. Kepala Kantor Bea Cukai Batam, Agung Widodo, mengatakan nilai barang hasil penindakan tersebut diperkirakan mencapai Rp50,5 juta. Sementara itu, potensi kerugian negara yang berhasil diselamatkan ditaksir sekitar Rp33,1 juta. Selain mengamankan barang bukti, petugas juga melakukan pengumpulan, pendalaman, dan pengolahan informasi guna menelusuri jalur distribusi hingga sumber produksi rokok ilegal tersebut. Langkah itu dilakukan agar penindakan tidak hanya menyasar pelaku di tingkat peredaran, tetapi juga mampu mengungkap jaringan di balik distribusi barang ilegal. “Ke depan, Bea Cukai Batam akan tetap melaksanakan operasi serupa,” ujar Agung. Menurutnya, operasi dapat dilakukan secara mandiri maupun bersinergi dengan instansi terkait. Apabila ditemukan indikasi pelanggaran yang didukung alat bukti yang cukup, Bea Cukai akan menindak pelaku sesuai ketentuan peraturan perundang-undangan.
