Fun fact: This isn't true in the slightest. Horses curl their tongue into a taco shape making it like a straw, then literally suck the water into their throat where they swallow it. Their lips barely touch the water, and their nostrils can stay open because they are above the water level. Horses don't shoot water out of their nostrils to scare predators. Sometimes water comes out of their nostrils while drinking or when they're choking, but that's it. Also, they are herd animals. They eat, sleep, run, and yes, even drink together, but not because it's a socializing thing where they interact with each other and strengthen relationships. It's a herd mentality thing. They see others drinking water so their brain tells them they should drink water too. The end.
