Must be because the heat from the hot water must be similar to the temperature of the sun. Both of them must be warm enough to make them grow.

cold water will cause root shock which may lead to permanent root damage leaf drop and other problems

if you want fresh cut flowers to last you use cold water. if you give them warm water they'll bloom and expire faster. warm water will work kinda like the video says, but cuts the time they'll last. boiling water will probably kill them quite quickly.

hot water molecules move faster because the water boils, cold water moves slower because it's not going anywhere or being exposed to heat
