This technique opens up some possibilities. So for example: 25 x 47 = ? 2 x 47 = 94 then 20 x 47 = 940 and 5 x 47 = 235 So... 25 x 47 = 940 + 235 = 1175 √ Check with a calculator

My mental math would be: 18 x 23 = (20 x 23) - (2 x 23) = 460 - 46 = 460 - 40 - 6= 420 - 6 = 414… lots of steps but that happens in like 2-3 seconds so I can cope with it

Why is math so complicated now? Schools should have kept it the easy way but they want to confuse kids so they don’t know anything. Multiplication is Multiplication not egyptian multiplication..
