Instead of backstitching try knotting the tails of your thread so the fabric doesn’t get caught in your sewing machine. French seams look beautiful with this lightweight fabric. It’s also recommended to use a Microtex or 60/8 needle, and stitching works best when they’re 1.5-2mm long. Rib knit (QL-046301) Overlocking is the best way to tackle these seams, and for when you can’t overlock I recommend using Heat & Bond to stabilise seams so the fabric doesn’t overstretch. Stitching works best when you use a Jersey or Ballpoint needle and keep the stitch length at 2.5-3mm long. Mesh lace (QL-027041) Using a narrow zigzag stitch will stop your sewing machine from eating your fabric, trust me, don’t blunt your needle on paper! Depending on your mesh it’ll sew beautifully with either a Microtex, 60/8 or ballpoint needle. Light - medium tension is recommended, you may need to play around with what works with your machine and fabric. And keep the stitch length to the 2-2.5mm range.
