@precioushill_: Some people with nonverbal autism do develop the ability to use a few words in a meaningful manner but are unable to carry on any kind of significant conversation. For example, they may say "car" to mean "let's go for a ride." Yet they would not be able to answer the question, "Where should we go?" I can count on ONE hand how many words Mikko can say without prompt. There is a huge difference in being able to talk and someone communicating. Talking is the result of opening our mouths and letting words flow. Communication is the act of thinking about what we wish to say before uttering words, of organizing the thoughts we wish others to hear and discuss so they will result in an appropriate action or response. #autism #asd #autismawareness #nonverbal #communication #toddler #mom
