This happens so often during night audit it’s not even funny! Then they get even more huffy when you sell it to someone else and they come back 10 minutes later thinking you saved the room for them

An unused room requires no cleaning. A used room needs to be turned over. At 33% off, it's cheaper for the hotel if it's empty.

I remember when you could go hotel to hotel at midnight and have them negotiate lower prices to get you to stay there. negotiation was a thing a long time ago
