@connealymd: Cervical cancer primarily affects the cells of the cervix, which is the lower part of the uterus that connects to the vagina. There are different histological types of cervical cancer, with squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma being the most common. However, the gastric type of cervical cancer is an extremely rare form. This subtype is characterized by cells that resemble those found in the gastric (stomach) tissue. It is also known as "gastric-type mucinous carcinoma" and is less responsive to the usual therapies applied for more common types of cervical cancers. Unusual Presentation: Watery Discharge One of the unusual early signs of this type of cervical cancer, as I mentioned, is the presence of a watery discharge from the vagina. This symptom can be confusing and is often not immediately recognized as a sign of cancer. In cervical cancer, this discharge can occur due to tumor growth that obstructs the cervical glands, causing a buildup of secretions. Additionally, the tumor's invasion into cervical glands can alter their function, leading to unusual secretions such as a clear, watery discharge.
