The problem isn’t EGR itself… the problem is the execution of most EGR systems. Coolers too small, there also needs to be post valve fuel injection to keep intake/crossover/intake valves clean.

It’s pretty new but FASS makes an EGR filter now.. probably not much data other than their R&D but time will tell.

If every diesel was 40% for fuel efficent with no emission’s, we could burn 40% less fuel collectively. Big oil companies would never allow that. Thats the answer

I’m not a mechanic, but I’m a diesel truck driver had 2 Chevrolet with fuel pumps grenade. I’ve moved to ford and have been OK for the past four years now crossing my fingers. Thank you

I’m in the process of deleting my egr but because vw put software on the ecu that detects the plates I have to have it re mapped out

At work here in Canada, we're trying to clean these out on our engines at an interval that allows them to be cleaned, as well as the EGR valves and intake housings. So far we've had some success.

or go strictly post treatment and eliminate the EGR all together. Scania is doing it and International just adopted it. it's the future. EGR has never really been successful it just scrapes by.
