@emileesegura: This was a crazy experience, but I want to shout out the @FatCats in Saratoga Springs because they were so accommodating for the deaf community last night in so many ways. My friend called them the day before asking if they could put on open captions for our group of friends and they did! They set up a new showing for 6:30 with open captions just for us! Unfortunately the open captions froze but the employees tried several times to get the captions to keep working by starting the movie over several times. When that didn’t work they worked hard to get the caption boxes working for us. They could have just said sorry here are your free movie tickets and stopped trying which is usually what happens at other theaters, but they gave us free movie tickets AND got the caption boxes working for us. I know other people in the theater were frustrated and they had every right to be, but they got to experience a glimpse of what is often like as a deaf person to go to the movie theater.
