@alex_thevet: Did you know that cats can get acne too?! If you’ve noticed bumps or blackheads on your feline friend’s chin it might be cat acne! As a veterinarian, I see this skin condition in cats more often than you might think. 1️⃣ What is cat acne, and why does it occur? Cat acne is a skin condition characterized by the appearance of blackheads, bumps, or even pustules on a cat’s chin. Although the exact cause is unknown, it’s thought that factors such as overactive sebaceous glands, allergies, poor grooming habits, or even stress are involved. 2️⃣ How to identify the signs and symptoms? Look out for blackheads, red bumps, or scabs on your cat’s chin. You may also notice your cat excessively scratching or rubbing its chin against objects. In severe cases, the area may appear swollen or inflamed. 3️⃣ Tips for managing and treating feline acne at home: Regularly clean your cat’s chin with a gentle, pet-safe cleanser (but not too often as to irritate the area!). Avoid plastic food and water bowls, opting for stainless steel, glass, or ceramic instead. Ensure your cat maintains good grooming habits and reduce stress in their environment. 4️⃣ When to seek veterinary care for your cat’s skin issues: If your cat’s acne persists, worsens, or appears painful, it’s time to consult your veterinarian. We can provide personalized treatment options, such as topical medications, anti inflammatory meds or antibiotics if needed, to help clear up the condition and keep your kitty comfortable. #cathealth #vetcare #CatLovers #CatBehavior #VetTips

This is so helpful I didn't realise that's what this was. It started on my female cat and I was worried it was flea dirt but they are treated often and absolutely no eggs/fleas when I comb. This makes so much sense now, I will be changing their bowls from plastic and cleaning the area often to see if that helps.

I’ve switched bowls and water fountain to stainless steel and he’s still getting it. His isn’t bleeding thank god, but what else can I do besides the wipes? Is there any kind of soaps that actually breakdown the oils like we have face washes and then I can follow up with wipes? Cause just by a lil pressure he’s had a huge amount of clogged oil that came out them pores!! Idk what else to do. I’ve washed EVERYTHING including blankets toys bedding! HELP ME……
