I make it a point to compliment at least one person every time I’m out because you don’t know what kind of day that person is having. If I can give them a little boost of happiness, that makes me happy!

The guy boarding the plane behind me, said to me just as I was going to sit down, I really like your coat. I didn't even get to see his face because he walked past me after I got to my seat. Strange thing to have a guy say it. He definitely wasn't hitting on me. Just liked my coat. This happened weeks ago and I'm still smiling about it.

I love the way you say "okay" it reminds me of some Italian girls I knew in school. and I'm glad you like our compliments!! a lot of people think that they're fake but the truth is that we don't give fake compliments to strangers, we just ignore them if we don't have anything nice to say. if you're getting compliments in the street that means it's true and it's real.

something else that i think you’d like: when we’re traveling and see someone wearing merchandise for a team we like, a school we went to, a place we lived or called home at one point, etc. we will get excited and make it known! for example: i go to school at the university of colorado boulder, our mascot is a buffalo, and our phrase is sko buffs. if im back in massachusetts (where im from) and i see someone representing my school/our team ill say “sko buffs!” to them, and usually receive a smile or a “sko buffs” in response

Something Italians do that I love as an American is being so excited and encouraging about learning the language. You learn like ten words and the Italians are going to praise the heck out of you and are genuinely happy that you've even learned ten words! it's very encouraging. I'm learning Italian currently and I'm excited to go test it out there one day
