I have a pvc pipe that has the purple stuff on it but is leaving a small puddle underneath. Can I just add more purple stuff on top to seal it or do I have to take it all apart?

my hub saver i got from the supply house only works well if it's 100% rigid if it moves at all doesn't work very well at all.
