@thefoodiephysician: HYDRATION SERIES PART I : How much water do I need? 💦🥤 Now that summer's here, let’s talk about hydration! ☀️As an ER doctor, this is an important topic because I see a lot of heat-related illnesses this time of year. 🥵 And this year we’re experiencing record-breaking temperatures in many parts of the country.🌡️ We all know that water is essential for life, but you may be wondering how much water you should be drinking each day. A general rule of thumb is to drink half your body weight in ounces of water. For example, if you weigh 160 pounds, you should drink 80 ounces of water a day. 🚰 However, your water needs are going to increase in certain circumstances like if you’re exercising or if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding. 🏋️🤰🤱 I recommend getting a large water bottle that will keep your water cold and take it with you during the day to remind yourself to hydrate. 🥤 Cheers to a happy and hydrated summer!
