I think what definitely helped me retain my viet was watching Vietnamese content on YouTube or movies that were dubbed 😅 I think the more you listen to it, the faster u pick it up!

Aw I feel you! I used to be ashamed of having a Viet name and hated going to Viet school, but looking back I’m glad my parents made my sibs and I go. I appreciate them so much more now I’m grown

I grew up speaking Vietnamese Im pretty fluent but I’ve lost it since I stopped speaking now I have a daughter and I am trying to do better with speaking with her bc I want her to know her culture 💕

I’m first-gen Viet-American and am like 95% fluent in Viet (some words just get me). And it’s just too common nowadays for other Viet-Am to not learn Vietnamese growing up. 2 of my Viet friends don’t know Viet and their parents were surprised that I knew Viet when I started talking to them normally
