Replying to @ArizonaTony While it's true that a lot of valves can be replaced internally, there are many circumstances, much more than on this video, where I've had to cut out an entire valve. There are many different scenarios and a quick Google search, "are barrel unions useful for irrigation solenoid valves," will bring up many professional companies that use them and suggest using them. Primarily, they should definitely be used for pumps and things like this for easy disconnection and removal. However, they do have their place with solenoids too. I don't actually use them on every job, but I'm starting to use them more frequently now. This is just a few of the different scenarios where the entire solenoid may need changing, including if you wanted to change to another brand. For a part that costs a small amount, to me it's a no-brainer to put them in. I enjoy using them, to each their own. However, to suggest that no real irrigator uses them is false. Plenty of them on Google, and I've come across plenty of systems where they've been used. They're commonly used in irrigation for everything from solenoids to pumps and many other uses.
