is there an execution of this that doesn't rely on parked cars? most residential streets in my city have this, but they have poorly maintained/narrow sidewalks and no space for bikes.

I get the value of these, and don't disagree with them. But I live on one of these in a place that gets snow in winter. It gets really problematic to drive, park, and clear snow.
