I think it's an assumption that this method is so that Charlotte can speak both languages and eventually you would just start being able to speak French with her or her dad doing the opposite

When my daughter was born, I was speaking french and her dad Portuguese only. So we used the 1 language 1 parent method. But now after 11 years in a French country, he speaks French- with her too!

Makes sense. Sometimes when one parent is struggling to use a 2nd language just to expose their child to it at an early age, it makes sense to switch when they are older
