Follow @HeartAndEffort for proof that humanity still exists, one moment at a time. 💛 Every role Chadwick Boseman played, he already knew he was dying. Nobody on set knew. Nobody in the audience knew. He knew. Chadwick Boseman was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2016. He told almost no one. In the four years that followed he filmed Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Da 5 Bloods and Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, all while privately undergoing surgeries and chemotherapy between takes, showing up every single day to embody heroes on screen while quietly fighting for his life off it. Before Black Panther he had already portrayed Jackie Robinson, James Brown and Thurgood Marshall. Three giants. Three men who changed history. He did not approach those roles as an actor playing a part. He studied them as a man who believed their stories deserved to be told with the full weight of what they had actually cost. When he could not afford drama school in London, Denzel Washington paid his tuition. Years later on the Black Panther press tour, Boseman told that story publicly for the first time, looked directly into the camera, and said thank you. He spent his final years visiting children in hospitals, many of them cancer patients, in full Black Panther costume, because he understood that T'Challa was not a character to those children. He was proof. He died on 28 August 2020, aged 43. The Wakanda Forever salute was not written into the script. Boseman improvised it on set because he felt the character needed a gesture that belonged entirely to him and to the culture he was representing. Millions of people around the world now use it to honour him. He never stopped. Not once. Save this. Not everyone knows the full story. 💛 #ChadwickBoseman #RealMoments #Humanity #BlackPanther #Hopecore
