@humanebroward: Blizzard was adopted!! 🙌❤️ Such a happy ending for this sweet pup, now named Shiloh! ☺️ Six-month-old Blizzard was surrendered to us when his person had nowhere to live. He was sick with canine parvovirus, which is highly contagious and often fatal. Puppies are at greatest risk for contracting parvo between six weeks to six months of age and should receive their vaccinations for the disease at six, eight, and 12 weeks, with a further booster a few weeks later. Thanks to donor support, we had on hand a lifesaving brand-new drug called Elanco, a monoclonal antibody treatment. (Just three vials cost $1,200, and it took half of our supply to treat Blizzard.) The drug worked its magic, and in one week Blizzard tested negative for the virus. He recovered fully with no ill effects and was soon available for adoption. Now he’s spending his days playing with his new bff and beloved big brother, Yoda.
