Denn die „Häkelköniginnen" sind Kunsthandwerkerinnen, die hier arbeiten - überwiegend Frauen mit Migrationsgeschichte - unter anderem aus der Türkei, Syrien, Pakistan und dem Libanon, die ihr traditionelles Häkelhandwerk für hochwertige Mode und Schmuck einsetzen. Der gemeinnützige Verein Von Meisterhand e.V.. hat das Ziel, Frauen beruflich und wirtschaftlich zu unterstützen, traditionelle Handwerkstechniken zu bewahren, Deutschkurse, Weiterbildung und Unterstützung im Alltag anzubieten und Integration und Selbstständigkeit zu fördern. So werden Haute Couture und soziales Engagement mit wunderschönen Produkten miteinander verbunden und es entstehen Krägen, Colliers, Ohrringe und andere Accessoires - teilweise mit Swarovski-Kristallen und feinsten Garnen.
