@themedicarefamily: If you have original Medicare and a Medicare Supplement it is very RARE to be required prior authorization (usually only for procedures that could be cosmetic only like upper eye lift).
I am a medical biller & the world of prior auths for Medicare Advantage plans is painful.

This is exactly why people with certain issues, like myself, just live with it. I’m 100 percent sure PT is NOT going to fix the issue but that is what I have to do.

My sister in the same exact situatio and she’s dying in pain and can barely walk with a walker! What do you suggest when the doctor needs to write an appeal letter? This is insane!

I'd think it would be cheaper to just to the surgery than all these other options because they wind up paying anyway unless of course you die, which I'm sure that's what they hope

I have tibia curve and alignment which research said delay would not be good, so I had to go through all that plus steroids i was allergic to and sent my heart into tachycardia.

Speaking Up :
Fortunately, my mom's advantage plan must be fairly good. She was approved for knee replacement right away (still took a couple of months for her/her surgeon's schedules to mesh).
