see I never used a log before but I did grow golden oysters in a bucket, I used straw and cardboard. I boiled the hell out of it and then layered it in like a lasagna.

Love to see a fellow mushroom grower! I wanted to point out that the wood dowels are colinized by mushroom “mycelium”. Mushroom spores meet and then make the white mycelium that you see.

did shitake about 18months ago on oak log(new cutt in fall or early spring is ideal). woodpeckers got removed most bark. FML. after 12-18mo, SOAK for 24hrs(kids pool) then whach with hammer. wait.
