Omg. Speech Language Pathologist here. I am so sorry that your speech therapist didn’t recognize your first language. That is absolutely not standard practice for the last 15 years!

I’m sorry your speech therapist didn’t recognize asl was your first language - I swear now in our speech programs we are taught that ASL is totally valid and shouldn’t be prioritized over English!
