There are so many underrated places like Fukuoka, Oita, Yamagata. (Fukuoka is probably the best city in Japan ppl dont know this. it literally has everything, nature, beaches, mountain, less ppl)

nah don't skip the cities, but do go to sendai, go to nagano, go to all those littler stops on the railway line. you'll have just as much fun there just don't skip the lessons of Japanese!
