I was always told stainless steel is supposed to kill bacteria that's why it used in medical and restaurant leaving the plastic leave a layer that bacteria can live on

U need a solvent like alcohol to wipe off thr sticky part but it’s plastic so if you put heat on it could have melted onto the surface.

Here in Europe if you leave that protection on, you don't comply with regulations. There is a reason to use inox and nothing else on top...

Bought a stainless table that had film like this. Sat outside for a week in the heat. Haven't been able to get all the film off. it's been over a year. Power washer, scotchbrite nothing worked.

yeah I've never seen anyone keep a protective layer on a steel table, the whole point of it being steel is that it's easier to clean
