Maybe in the super young teams it happens. The older they get, minor hockey won’t let a guy coach a specific level if their son isn’t at that level.

It's not just hockey this happens unfortunately. ( son was in lots of sports & lost interest because of all.) It crushes kids dreams & drive.

So true, very sad! My son wanted to play hockey. He wasn’t very good but it was house league. The coach would play his son and his friends. My son never played. He didn’t play the next year.
