When will the throwing stop?!?! 🥦 Food throwing is a common concern, especially for toddlers. How you react in the moment can make all the difference. If your toddler is throwing food, try these four tips: Understand that your toddler is still learning language, and as they work on their verbal skills, they will make many mistakes in communicating their wants and needs. It’s your response that helps them learn what their actions and words are communicating. 1️⃣ Pause when your toddler throws food. Don’t pick it up right away. Connect their action with words by saying something like “Oops, all gone.” 2️⃣ Wait for them to communicate that they want the food back. Don’t just pick it up. Wait for them to grunt, fuss, or point. Then say something like: “Oh, more?” After this, return the food to the tray so it helps them connect their communication with the words: “I want more” or “I’m not done.” 3️⃣ Try bringing a small bowl to the table and have them help you put the food into the bowl when they seem to be all done with the meal. Having them help with cleanup is a great way to engage them and channel their throwing energy into something more productive. ⭐️ Remember: Communication takes time. You may have to repeat this process a number of times until your child gets it. ➡️ For more tips on how to handle food throwing, head to our website, link in bio, and search “throwing”. #SolidStarts #babyledweaning #babyledweaningideas #firstfoods #whatmybabyeats #babyfoodideas #6monthsold #babydevelopment #babymilestones #childdevelopment #100firstfoods #raisinglittles #healthybabyfood #babyled #babyledeating #blwinspiration #momoftoddlers #newmomma #firsttimemom #momminainteasy #whatmytoddlereats #toddlerfoodideas #toddlermeals #toddlertips #parenting101 #toddlereats #toddlersnacks #feedingtoddlers #toddlerlife #parentproblems
