@jacobtempler: This pyramid is bent - Read Below 👇🏽 🇪🇬The Bent Pyramid - one of the most unique in all of Egypt. 👷🏽♂️Built around 2600 BC by Pharaoh Sneferu, the bent appearance of the pyramid was once believed to be the result of structural instability. Today, it’s believed it was a transition architectural style between step- and smooth- sided pyramids. 🪨The best example in Egypt of a pyramid with its external limestone casing intact is the Bent Pyramid. ❌The pyramid was closed to tourists between 1965 and 2019! 🧗🏼But the best part of the pyramid is inside - the climb. 🪜Scaling up the wood scaffolding, you reach about halfway up the pyramid outside, with the remaining height to be climbed inside. 🗻It is a physically challenging task, with the first leg being a cramped, sloped climb of over 100 yards. Beyond that you’ve got many stairs and a tunnel or two left before reaching the top of the pyramid. 🤠One of my favorite things we did in Egypt - a real Indiana Jones style adventure.
