@careercoachtammie: It is not the end of the world if you don't get a nursing graduate year. Acute nursing isn't the only options for you either #nursingstudent #nursingaustralia #nursingjobsaustralia
I didn’t get a grad year, ended up in GP land for 4 years and just landed an acute med surg ward job! They knew i didn’t have the experience they wanted but I interviewed really well…

Didn’t get a grad year, currently picking up agency shifts in private hospitals and rural public hospitals. As an EEN you can ask RN questions and they’re willing to help.

Can I ask. Can you go straight into aged care after completion of the degree or is there a grad year equivalent for aged care if that makes sense ?

That’s not necessarily correct! It’s not that hard to change specialities during a nursing career.

or you could just apply for acute jobs 😂
Been a nurse now for 10 years. I have never done a grad and have never had a problem. The one job that got me in the door, GP nursing, imms, bloods and wounds are not common skills. employers have been at me like pirhanas. worked in community, GP, acute, paediatrics, clinical care management.

No such thing as a grad year for enrolled nurses in my region (Townsville). I got a job in an acute ward straight up because they were short of enrolled nurses - maybe go regional?

This is actually extremely inaccurate. Most hospitals are so short staffed these days that the graduate year isn’t a huge thing anymore. Most grads can enter directly into hospitals in any specialty
