The Leeds café changing the lives of people with Down Syndrome… but now facing closure 😲❌ On busy Otley Road in Headingley, 21 Co. Café is no ordinary coffee shop. Run by charity Sunshine and Smiles, the café employs people with Down’s Syndrome, giving them priceless training and first-hand experience in work. But the charity, which supports more than 180 families across Leeds, has just announced a £30,000 funding shortfall with fears the cafe could be forced to close. Only 1 in 10 people with learning disabilities are in paid employment. 21 Co. Café exists to give their employees invaluable skills to take forward in life. Sunshine and Smiles have launched a fundraising campaign in a bid to plug the funding deficit - and ultimately keep the café open!
