You have to be a mountain goat to get in them my 1086 was wore out and still worked fine. So why show 66 series rolling and flipping over?

The 986 that I bale hay with is about to turn over 30,000 hours. Motor was rebuilt at 26,000 hours. Only other thing we have done to it is put a torque and clutch in it. My grandpa bought it new.

downfall? Dad bought a turbo 986 in '89 with 1800 hrs. I lived in it as it was the main horse til '06. It left last yr with 10.5k hrs. 1 clutch and 1 head gasket is all that was ever done to it.

I believe he’s talking about the 88 series! The only problem I’ve ever heard of out of the 86 series was the shifter wearing out 20 years after IH went out of business!

We run five 86 series, 886, two 1086’s and two 1486’s. None of which have had major issues or any sort of transmission issue. TA’s work in them as well!

I've spent alot of time in an 886 cab. only thing I don't like about the tractor is that it was hard to see the drawbar to hook up implements.

I’ve still own 2 1486 3388 , have had hardly any problems over 25 years I have no idea what they did when they were new but you can still make a day with them

Blaming the 86 series for the downfall of IH is ridiculous. I didn’t care much for our 1086 but that was in 2023. Ours was used and abused but still reliable.

I had a 1086, it was a good tractor. Sort of felt like a monkey running it. Got a 4440, much handier to operate!

You know there was an 88 series after the 86 series right? As fat as I can remember the 86 series was and still is fairly popular.

86 series wasn’t bad. There is still a lot of them working today. Now, the 88 series I can see being the downfall. The only time I see those is when I go to take scrap metal off. Maybe I’m wrong.

They were good tractors, people say they tranny and hydraulics are bad but the whole tractor is just a 66 series with a nicer cab so I don’t know how that works, their reliable tractors and their abs
