I don’t think it should be an option. It’s like 1 inch but it’s such a inconvenience for the person behind you when we already all have such a little space.

yes it’s rude! I just flew 6 hours with the woman in front of me basically in my lap. I couldn’t even get to my bag under the seat

yes. you notify the person behind you at the very least, but the most courteous thing to do is ask permission.

The benefit of the recline is sooo small compared to the inconvenience for the person behind you. They can barely use the tray table!
