could you trim some of the bark on that branch and try to propagate roots to use as another tree

My pear tree branches snap off all the time do to the weight of the pears. I have to trim it way back every two years

I believe if the branch isn't snapped off completely they actually can remain on the tree a little while to get some more time to mature.
