Maybe not. But the tourism there knows what they’re doing, it contributes to the income nila and even if you saw trashes, locals actually collects it.

Our tour guide explained that the locals collect the lanterns then they get paid if they return it.

Actually, pinupulot din po siya ng locals after. Then they exchanged it for 50NTD per lantern. Kasi eto rin yung worry ko nung una. May pinakita rin saming video nun nung pagpupulot nila.

Our tour guide said na no need to be guilty kasi alaga ang Shifen sa linis. The government is only allowing this tradition there for a reason para isang lugar lang need linisin, bawal sa ibang lugar.
