Though Kellan was wearing his “boy” shirt at the time…the “Sass” was always there. Can you see the DIVA pose?! 💖 We as parents have let Kellan come to her own decisions in her own time. I remember when the Preschool Teacher came to me and said, “Thank you. Thank you for allowing your child to be themselves. We have other parents who refuse to allow their child (born male) to wear dresses that we have during playtime. We love that you support your child unconditionally.” This began at the age of three years old . We have just watched and supported our child on their journey to self discovery, as well as their siblings. Kellan’s older sisters identify as she/her. Kellan’s younger brothers, identify as he/him. And over the past year, Kellan has gone from identifying as he/she too, she/her. To be honest, all of the kids have been wonderfully accepting. The most resistance and least understanding has come from the parents. In the end, Kellan’s father, and I know that people are in our lives for either a reason, a season or a lifetime. We don’t expect everybody to understand and/or agree. We always hope there is support. The best thing we can do is to raise our child in a supportive environment and hopefully be an inspiration to other families and let them know it’s OK to love your child as they are. Kellan is unique, amazing, and the most loving child towards her siblings and parents. 🫶🏼 if you ever feel like you are a parent, who is struggling with understanding the differences of your child, please feel free to reach out via direct message. With love, gratitude and Support.
