Had no idea those types of houses were missing. I’ve always lived where there’s TONS of townhouses/rowhouses and duplexes.

My mom was able to exit homeless by moving into an ADU. While 4 of us in a one bedroom in-law unit wasn’t adequate housing, it was a step out homelessness.

I keep thinking Airbnb would just buy up those cottage court houses. how can we prevent that from happening so people can afford to buy a house?

Never knew that zoning laws had such a big impact on Cities in the US being the way they are, coming from Europe. your videos make me see and think about things I never have before. Thank you for that

Fort Collins CO is a great example of how hard it is to change zoning laws to support missing middle housing. The public pushes back hard

I spent 4 years living in the historic district of my city in an old hospital that was turned into 8 apartments, it was the perfect middle housing

As someone from Ireland where semi-detached houses are basically the norm, this seems like such a strange thing to be illegal

@mugly: I lived in an apartment complex in Denver that spanned several blocks. Mix of apartment buildings, duplexes, and townhouses. I always thought it was such a great design and use of space!

I think you might be wrong about the house making less profit for developers. Kitchens and bathrooms are expensive and a single family only has 1-3 vs 5-9. Bedrooms are cheap to add sqft!

I always see senior housing and I wonder why they aren’t building those for millennials? My husband and I are drowning in single family debt and would love a smaller space.
