@thedesertwhisperer: Good morning! 🦎Regal horned lizards, also known as Phrynosoma solare, warm up by basking in the sun with their heads exposed. They often do this in the morning after a cool desert night, with only their heads sticking out of holes in the sand. The sun warms the blood in a chamber inside the lizard's head, and when it's warm enough, the lizard opens a valve in its neck to circulate the blood throughout its body. Once their body temperature reaches a certain level, they'll start looking for food.
