The CDC no longer requires abstainment from alcohol while taking flagyl, as studies shown no disulfiram like reactions ever occurred in patients taking flagyl. Look it up it’s on their website

I was on Flagyl for H. Pylori… I had one glass of wine the day after I finished, I honestly thought I was dying. Rapid heart rate, excessively sweating. No one told me. That was an ER visit. 😳

I dated a pharmacist and he was like oh it’s fine to drink on antibiotics that’s a myth all I have to say is the next day I was throwing up, dry heaving, heart racing, and thought I was going to die.

That’s weird because I always ask Drs and they say for most, it’s okay, it just could potentially make the antibiotic less effective. So they don’t recommend it, but it’s nothing dire.

I remember picking up a prescription that included both flaygyl & Tylenol 3 & my pharmacist telling me she could not stress enough ZERO alcohol lol. Like, check the mouthwash you use, zero.

this is mostly just the case for metronidazole (Flagyl), it interacts with the alcohol and makes you really unwell. with other abx the alcohol may inhibit their action and they won't work as well
