@jana_burkholder: True story: Food used to consume my thoughts. I was always doing mental math about when and how much to eat. Feeling guilty if I ate too much, and then restricting to get back on track. It was so exhausting. My worth felt tied to whether or not my calorie tracker said I was in a deficit or not. When I learned that the stress of trying to eat perfectly and who I was BEING when I ate had a bigger impact on my overall health than the food I was putting into my body, I was shocked! I had spent years of my life thinking that if I could just manage my food really really well, then I’d be thin and happy. But I was actively doing the opposite. Instead, I felt stressed, obsessed, distracted, and self-conscious. Who you are BEING when you eat affects your health more than the food that you eat. When I began to let this inform my thoughts and behaviors, eating became a lot more enjoyable. I gained a sense of freedom that I hadn’t felt around food since early childhood. >>Where are you at with this now?
