i know if you connect xp without any service packs to the net, you immediately get blasted w these native to windows dialog spam boxes. no idea what it is. but sp1 update fixes this.

Might have mentioned he intentionally turned off the firewall and connected it directly to the 'net with nothing in between. The result is hardly shocking.

Any thing with no firewall and a direct connection. They are always scanning for open ports. Your thermostat or security camera won't last seconds....
