@ben_yanes: The difference is the relationship between the cable and the trunk/shoulders. It’s not that leaning forward is better or worse, it’s that leaning forward will make the motion more lat-specific, while leaning backward will begin to shift the bias upward toward the upper back. For reference: I wouldn’t perform these cable rows the way that I was in the demo video because of how unstable they’d be - you’d want a foot or chest support to do them at that angle, and you might even be better off just leaning back to do a pull-down if you wanted to use a more vertical loading angle.
