nah this is smart. oversized O trap is good to prevent from slugging your comp with oil. oversized suction line really helps with refrigerant flow too. (I know nothing about HVAC) and carpet makes good insulation.

I know this looks ridiculous haha and I wouldn't do this but ... an old way to reduce compressor noise and excessive vibration guys would pipe in a a few elbows or a inverted trap on the suction line.
