Happened to me too, visited Pittsburgh as an European, walked somewhere and realized halfway there I wasn't supposed to walk here when the sidewalk suddenly disappeared.

i walk up to the dollar general, which is less than a mile away, and there is not a single sidealk so I have to walk on the shoulder of the road and part of the way is up a hill and ppl like to speed

I had that exact experience once. Google even recommended cutting through the cemetery. Only to find a locked gate, 1pm on a Friday.

This is eye opening. I’m European (Swedish). In an FB group about travelling people are constantly asking “Is it safe?” It’s confusing to me but I understand now where they’re coming from.

Stayed in Dallas for a conference which was a mile from where I was staying, so being European I walked. 6 cars stopped along my route to ask had I broken down and needed a ride!

Just happened to me today! 27 minute walk to an estate sale led me through a watershed runoff so I had to walk alongside a major road in the curb!
