@nerdgirlnews: When you light a sparkler, the flame ignites the metal fuel and the binder. The heat from the flame causes the oxidizer to decompose, releasing oxygen. The oxygen then combines with the metal fuel in a rapid combustion reaction, generating intense heat and light. The metal particles in the sparkler reach very high temperatures during combustion, causing them to incandesce. As the metal fuel burns, tiny particles of molten metal are ejected from the sparkler. These hot particles quickly cool down in the air and solidify, forming the sparks that we see. . . . #STEM #STEAM #STEMeducation #STEMgirls #STEMforkids #STEMactivities #STEMlearning #STEMeducationforkids #STEMwomen #STEMcareers #science #engineering #technology #physics #biology #chemistry #math #WomenInScience #womeninengineering #womenintech #nerdgirlnews
