I agree with everything here except for the fact that if you're experiencing a 10/10 pain you can't express that. You should be unconscious according to universal scale.

I’m so glad they took my gallbladder pain seriously. Legitimately the worst pain of my life. Pain meds start M and F did not touch it at alllllll.

....why I ALWAYS keep an actual pain med/script, updated with my GP. It's SO much easier for the staff as well. Just keep it updated. Even if not currently taking.
